It's not just for rugbyNo longer just the home of SC Rugby, Fraser Park has been cleverly designed to meet the needs of a wide range of sporting codes. From league, soccer, softball through to cricket and various community organisations Fraser Park is set to take pride and place in our community. The playing surfaces will be a combination of natural and artificial grass, with the main ground sporting the latest in hybrid turf technology to not only maximise performance and adapt to various sports but also increase playing times and reduce game or practice cancellation issues. The quality of the playing surface, along with a new multipurpose pavillion will also attract a greater number of national games and coaches to inspire and elevate sport in our region |
Excellent Spectator ViewingFor parents and supporters, side line support will still be an option, but so too will be a warm seat inside the pavilion. Outside, the park’s existing Southern Stand will be partly demolished and modern seating for up to 1200 spectators installed. There will also be bench seating for 288 people immediately in front of the pavilion. The park’s landscaping incorporates wrap-around embankments, which will create fun spaces for families to sit and watch their game changers playing. |
Multipurpose Pavilion & Function CentreA new multipurpose pavilion is being built along the park’s Church Street boundary. This will house a function centre – complete with a kitchen, bar, viewing areas and meeting rooms. The facilities will not only be a comfortable place to view the game but also attract companies outside of the region looking to host a function in Timaru’s ideally placed central South Island location - in turn grow our visitor numbers and generate additional business for our hospitality sector. |
Greater On-site Parking & Central LocationA newly developed parking area with 48 on-site parks will provide easy access to the pavilion and a more inviting entrance area. The central location for Fraser Park has been chosen for ease of access and safety for children as they make their way to after school practices. It is also ideally located for community groups wishing to use the facilities for events or meetings. |
How you can support Fraser Park...
While construction has now begun with an intended completion date of late 2023 we are still needing your support as we head into the home straight. To make Fraser Park the ultimate game changer for our region we are still needing to raise just under $300k directly from the community towards this $8.1m development. Any level of donation is greatly appreciated and can be allocated to specific areas if you wish. Three of our most popular donations levels include:
