Our Vision
Our vision for the redevelopment of Fraser Park is to build world-class facilities for a multitude of sports and sporting activities in South Canterbury.
We have consulted widely with our community and drawn on feasibility studies to reach the conclusion that while the location of the grounds is optimal, they should cater to a wider variety of sports and community events.
A redevelopment was first proposed in the late 1990s and reinvigorated in 2016.
The plans that we have developed have had a lot of thought put into them. They’re a smart and flexible design that’s modern, aesthetically pleasing and fit-for-purpose not just now, but into the future. They’ll continue to house South Canterbury Rugby Football Union, but expand the functionality of the turf and facilities to cater for multiple sports, ages and genders.

good for all
The economic benefits of this redevelopment for our region are vast: a world-class facility that attracts South Island tournaments, multisport matches, conferences, functions, exhibitions and outdoor events to the beating heart of South Canterbury. For our community, it will be a home ground to tomorrow's sporting champions.
